This is the first significant update the Taigun has received since its debut in 2021, and it touches almost every area of the car — styling, features, drivetrain, and safety.

Volkswagen has also introduced an assured buyback scheme: 75% of ex-showroom price as residual value, valid for bookings placed on or before May 31, 2026, up to 3 years and 30,000 km. This is a strong confidence signal — it reduces the financial risk of ownership and is targeted squarely at fence-sitters comparing the Taigun against rivals.

How does it stack up against the competition? The Taigun facelift enters at Rs 10.99 lakh — slightly above the Renault Duster (starts at Rs 10.49 lakh) and Rs 31,000 more expensive than the Skoda Kushaq facelift at entry level, despite the two being mechanically identical. Against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos — the dominant players in this segment — the Taigun offers a more driver-focused character and notably stronger build quality, though it has traditionally lagged in feature count. The facelift addresses that gap.
One notable omission: the Taigun facelift does not get the rear-seat massage function that the Kushaq facelift offers — an odd gap given how closely aligned the two cars are underneath. Volkswagen also confirms that approximately 60% of Taigun sales come from the higher variants, which validates the strategy of pricing the base aggressively while loading up features higher up the range.
Production of the facelifted Taigun began at Volkswagen India's Pune plant on April 7, 2026. The unveil was on April 9, with official sales starting on April 14. Pre-launch bookings were open at Rs 11,000.
