India’s Auto Industry Just Hit Overdrive—Here’s Everything That Dropped

April 2026 has turned out to be one of the more interesting months in Indian automotive history — not because of a single launch, but because of the sheer volume and variety of what's arrived and what's coming. Triumph Motorcycles blew the door open with five new bikes in one go. Royal Enfield finally put its first electric motorcycle on sale. Mercedes-Benz is bringing an EV sedan with 792 km range at a price that will genuinely test the market. And Volkswagen just gave the Taigun its first real update since 2021.

Let's go through everything you need to know — what launched this week, what just launched a few days ago, and what's arriving next week.

What Launched This Week

Triumph Speed T4, Speed 350, Scrambler 350 X, Scrambler 350 XC, Thruxton 350 — April 6

This was the big one. On April 6, Triumph Motorcycles India launched five motorcycles at once — all built on a new 350cc platform derived from their existing 400cc range. These are the Speed T4, Speed 350, Scrambler 350 X, Scrambler 350 XC, and Thruxton 350.

Why 350cc instead of 400cc? The answer is tax. Motorcycles under 350cc attract a lower GST bracket in India, which allows Triumph to price these bikes more competitively against Royal Enfield. The existing Speed 400 is priced at Rs 2.39 lakh. The new Speed T4 at 350cc should come in below that — exact pricing confirmed at launch.

The features largely carry over from the 400cc versions — LED headlamps, LED DRLs, semi-digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, switchable traction control, call and SMS alerts, USB-C charging port, dual-channel ABS. These aren't stripped-down bikes to hit a price point — they're the full package with a smaller engine.

The Thruxton 350 is particularly interesting — a café racer in this price range is rare, and Triumph has a strong heritage argument here. The Scrambler 350 XC with its higher-spec off-road kit will directly target buyers who were looking at Royal Enfield Himalayan or Scram 411.

Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6 Electric — On Sale Today

Today, Royal Enfield's first electric motorcycle, the Flying Flea C6, goes on sale at the brand's first dedicated Flying Flea store at Jayanagar, Bengaluru. Price: Rs 2.79 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries begin at the end of May.

The Flying Flea name goes back to the Second World War — British paratroopers used a lightweight Royal Enfield motorcycle called the Flying Flea. The C6 revival is a retro-styled electric that leans heavily into that heritage with a round headlamp, minimalist panel work, and exposed mechanical elements.

Royal Enfield has been quiet about the full specifications but the bike is designed for urban and semi-urban riding. This is not a performance machine — it's a statement that Royal Enfield is serious about electric, and that it plans to bring the same emotional, lifestyle-oriented branding to EVs that made its petrol bikes so culturally significant.

Eicher Motors stock has been trending higher in anticipation of this launch. The first Flying Flea store model — single-brand electric dealership — is also new territory for RE's retail strategy.

Bajaj Pulsar 180 — The Classic Returns

Bajaj brought back the Pulsar 180 in 2026 — a name that carries genuine emotional weight for a generation of Indian riders. The original Pulsar 180 was launched in 2001 and for years was the default choice for young buyers who wanted something sporty without the price tag of an import. It defined what a budget performance bike could look like in India.

The 2026 version is a modern reinterpretation — updated styling, new instrument cluster, improved brakes, but the same spirit. Bajaj has been careful not to over-engineer it into something unrecognisable. Pricing sits in the accessible commuter-sport bracket.

MG Hector Plus Diesel Variants — April 3

MG Motor launched four new diesel variants of the Hector Plus on April 3. These carry a 1998cc diesel engine and are priced between Rs 17.49 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). The Hector Plus is a 7-seater mid-size SUV that competes with the Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700. Adding diesel variants broadens its appeal to buyers who cover long distances.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris — March 30

Maruti Suzuki launched its new mid-size sedan, the Victoris, on March 30. This replaces the Ciaz in Maruti's lineup — a segment that had been left without a proper contestant for some time. Rs 10.50 lakh to Rs 19.99 lakh, 36 variants, 1462cc petrol engine delivering 21.18 kmpl. This is Maruti making a play for buyers who still want a proper sedan rather than an SUV.

What's Coming Next — This Month and Next Week

Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric — Launching This Month

The Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric is the most anticipated car launch in India this April. It arrives in two variants — CLA 200 and CLA 250+ — priced between Rs 55 lakh and Rs 59 lakh (ex-showroom). Built on a dedicated EV platform, it claims a range of 792 kilometres on a full charge — a number that, if even approximately real-world accurate, would make it one of the longest-range EVs available in India.

Features include a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, full glass roof, illuminated front grille, 101-litre frunk (front trunk), powered front seats with ventilation, heating and massage functions. This car goes directly up against the BMW i4 and the Tesla Model 3, and at Rs 55-59 lakh it's positioned as the entry point to Mercedes' electric lineup in India.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella — Pricing This Month

Toyota will reveal prices for the Urban Cruiser Ebella in April. This is Toyota's version of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara — same underpinnings, different badge and some differentiated features. It will be offered with 40kWh and 61kWh battery packs. The larger 61kWh version claims a range of 543 kilometres. Expect pricing to be announced within days.

Volkswagen Taigun Facelift — Debuted April 9

Volkswagen unveiled the Taigun facelift in India yesterday. This is the first significant update to the Taigun since its 2021 launch. The headline change is a new 8-speed automatic gearbox for the 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, replacing the old 6-speed unit — a welcome upgrade that should improve both performance and refinement. Exterior changes are subtle. The interior gets an upgraded infotainment setup. Pricing expected soon.

MG Majestor — Deliveries Begin May

The MG Majestor — successor to the Gloster full-size SUV — was unveiled in February and pre-bookings are open. Deliveries start May 2026. It comes in four colour options with a revamped cabin, more aggressive front end and new alloy wheel design. This is MG's play in the premium SUV space against the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.

2026 Yezdi Scrambler — April 23

The 2026 Yezdi Scrambler launches on April 23. The original Yezdi Scrambler was a cult bike when the brand was revived in 2022. This updated version gets new electronics, revised suspension tuning and fresh colour options.

BMW F 450 GS — Launch Date Confirmed

BMW Motorrad has confirmed the India launch date for the F 450 GS — the 'Baby GS' powered by a 420cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine. First showcased at EICMA in Milan in November 2025, this fills a gap in the adventure bike segment between entry-level options and the full-sized GS series.
